The Grand River … The Best River Tubing in Ontario
The Best River Tubing in Ontario
Your tubing journey starts where you park your car.
Considered to be one of the laziest sections of the many slower moving rivers in Ontario, the Grand River gives the perfect opportunity to spend a hot summer’s day rafting along the water on a tube.
Whether you have your own tube or not, there are rentals available. If needed, you can also rent oars and a dry kit and then get shuttled to the river where you coast along with a group of friends. Waterpark thrills at half the cost plus you’re in one with nature, and the whole family can enjoy this experience. Get out there and enjoy some relaxation along the lazy river in Paris, Ontario that takes you into one of the best conservation parks in Ontario, Brant Park.
It starts in the town of Paris, Ontario Canada and ends 12kms downstream at the Brant Park Conservation Area. This Paris to Brant lazy river paddle takes typically 3-4 hours to do but can take shorter or longer depending on the river speed.
Somewhere about the 9km mark along the river, there is a picnic area with washrooms. Also on this route is natural water springs and areas where you can go body surfing. Imagine 23-degree waters while surfing along in your life jacket. It will be a great experience not soon forgotten. What better way to spend your afternoon then on the lazy river and eating your lunch while enjoying nature.
There is a laundry list of activities too on this stretch of travel. For the kids there’s a history lessons rich with First Nation history, and you will want to check out an 1830 gypsum mine. If you’re a wildlife watcher there are lots to see, fish, muskrats, turtles, herons and vultures, even Osprey have been spotted in this part of Ontario. On this stretch, you may even paddle past the nesting Blue Heron.
For the herbalist, many medicinal plants are growing in this area. You can even catch a drink from the freshwater springs in the area.
The lazy river with its gentle moving current provides a perfect relaxing time away. While some spots are lazy enough to hold a drink, some mini rapids provide a wild ride and lots of “not quite” whitewater excitement to navigate through. Family-friendly outdoor activity doesn’t get any better than being one with nature. Feeling the warmth of the sun while coasting along, be it in a kayak or a tube is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
Note – This is busy must-do this summer so don’t forget reservations are recommended as it can often be sold out. Check our Grand River Rafting for rates on renting tubes.
